Why fork out big bucks for visitors who might come to your Web site, when you can get guaranteed results, even with a tight budget? Opt-in mailing list or e-zine. As tempting as it might be, never spam, include unsolicited commercial e-mails. Use opt-in e-mail as a sales tool and a long term relationship-builder, not as a targeted traffic builder. Traffic is incidental.

Newsgroups and forums. If the group is serious, it will have strict, self-enforced rules. Post anything that smells commercial, and you'll be flamed. Forget about coddling to these groups. The value of a forum is in the interaction with your fellow colleagues and cohorts. Networking will pay off in link backs, tips, email exchanges, and it will put you "in the loop" of your keyword sector. But no targeted traffic.
